Scrivener Advent Calendar: (XY)Z is for …
Z is for … Zoom!
Only one topic listed in the Index of Scrivener Posts, so ‘Zoom’ it is today.
Using the Zoom feature involves some of those essential executive functions.
- The ability to anticipate what’s coming up and make plans accordingly – see also number 8, flexibility!
- The ability to organise – thoughts, ideas, the scenes/chapters of my novels, …
- Reliability – doing what we agreed when we said it would be done (or earlier!)
- Getting up and getting on with the work – ie self motivation
- Managing our time to achieve the best results
- Paying attention to detail (quality …)
- Remembering stuff that’s important
- Flexibility – willingness to make changes in our plans or our approach
- Determination – ability to keep going
- Willingness to reflect on our own contribution to the team (and learn from it)
Scrivener gem
While working on your Scrivener project, if the font size in the Editing pane is uncomfortably small for you, don’t be tempted to change the font size. Use Zoom instead.
If you have time today, read on. If not, make a note to come back to this post another day.
This is a screen grab from a blog post Editing pane options: Scrivenings which focuses on the most common use of the Editing pane: writing and editing your Scrivenings.
At any one time, I might have several Scrivener projects open. It’s possible to have different Zoom settings for each Scrivener project.
- I tend to use 175% when editing a novel which is all text.
- If what I’m working on includes images, I’ll set the Zoom as 125%.
Experiment with different values and choose a Zoom percentage which makes reading the screen easy for you.
