The morning after the night before!

• Congratulations to everyone who validated their NANO 2015 novel before the deadline at midnight last night.
• Congratulations to everyone who took part. Even if you didn’t write 50,000 words, you wrote words – and that means you have the beginnings of a first draft.

Meanwhile …

Now, and I know I said I wouldn’t start editing until February! –  as Step 1 in the revision process, and to mark this milestone, I’m setting the Status of all my scenes as ‘First Draft’.

There are a few scenes towards the end of my outline, that are still to be written (!). I’m setting the Status for these as ‘To Do’.

Outline view then provides motivation as to which scenes I might work on next.

Notice that the coloured line showing my progress only appears for those scenes for which I set a target. There are a few scenes still needing a target!

Now, going back to my beloved Corkboard view, the Status setting doesn’t show, unless I ask for this option: View / Corkboard Options / Show Status Stamps

Success!

Almost – I don’t warm to the green of the Status stamps. On investigation – a quick trawl through the Scrivener manual to page 118/119 – section 10.1.3 tells me this can’t be changed. I’ll have to contain my need for colour coding to the Labels I assign to my scenes.
